Our Efforts Could Not Succeed Against the Wave of Change: Shankar Pokharel

Kathmandu — Shankar Pokharel, General Secretary of the CPN-UML, has said that his side could not succeed against the “wave of change.”

Pokharel, who was also a candidate from Dang Constituency No. 2, made the remark after his defeat in the election became certain.

“In this election, party leaders and cadres in the constituency where I was a candidate worked very hard. Well-wishers and relatives also extended equal support and cooperation. But our efforts could not succeed against the wave of ‘change,’” he said.

Writing on social media, he also congratulated senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party and prime ministerial candidate Balen Shah, along with all those who were elected, and wished them a successful tenure.

Pokharel also stated that victory and defeat are natural in a democratic process.
