Modi Hails Nepal’s Successful Polls, Pledges to Work With New Government

Kathmandu — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Nepal on the successful conduct of the House of Representatives elections, praising the Nepali people for actively exercising their democratic rights.
In a message posted on Facebook, Modi hailed the election as an important milestone in Nepal’s democratic journey and reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Nepal and its incoming government.

“I warmly congratulate the people and Government of Nepal on the successful and peaceful conduct of elections. It is heartening to see  my Nepali sisters and brothers exercise their democratic rights so vibrantly. This historic milestone is a proud moment in Nepal’s democratic journey. As a close friend and neighbor, India remains steadfast in its commitment to working closely with the people of Nepal and their new Government to scale new heights of shared peace, progress and prosperity,” Modi wrote.

Meanwhile, China also welcomed the successful completion of the vote.

Similarly, the United States Embassy in Nepal congratulated the Nepali people on the successful election day and said it looks forward to working with the incoming government to advance shared goals of prosperity and security.
