Dharan — All laboratory testing services will now be available 24 hours a day at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

According to the institute’s spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Anju Pradhan, laboratory test reports using automated, semi‑automated, and kit‑based technologies will be provided within two hours for emergency and Emergency Health Services (EHS) patients, and within three hours for outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) services from the time samples are received.

To achieve this, the institute has integrated the previously separate emergency and routine laboratories and launched the Central Laboratory from Poush 5. Previously, the emergency lab offered only limited tests, requiring samples to be sent separately to both routine and emergency labs. The new system eliminates this dual process.

Spokesperson Pradhan said the new setup is expected to make laboratory test reports available timely and conveniently during ward rounds.

The institute also stated that laboratory sample collection will now be available round the clock for patients receiving emergency, IPD, and EHS (OPD and IPD) services.
