Dang – New patients at the Lamahi Community Dialysis Centre in Dang are facing serious issues as they are unable to get a turn for dialysis treatment.

According to the centre’s chief, Sushil Pandey, more than 50 new patients are forced to wait for their turn for dialysis, aside from those already receiving regular services.

The inability to provide immediate service to new patients is due to the continuous increase in the number of patients with kidney failure. The delay in receiving timely dialysis services poses a risk of worsening health conditions for these patients, adding significant mental and financial stress to them and their families.

Currently, 58 patients are receiving regular dialysis services at the Lamahi Community Dialysis Centre. Despite maximum utilization of available staff and equipment, the increasing patient load has made it impossible to admit new patients, Pandey stated.

He mentioned that patients come to Lamahi not only from Dang but also from various districts such as Kapilvastu, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Rukum, Salyan, and Kanchanpur. Although the service area is expanding, the lack of necessary infrastructure development is exacerbating the problem.

The centre indicates that if sufficient buildings and equipment are arranged, the scope of services could be expanded to provide regular services to patients waiting for their turn. Local residents and relatives of patients have urged the government to immediately take steps to provide additional dialysis machines, skilled manpower, and infrastructure expansion, considering the growing demand.
