Unity declaration of the Maoist–Socialist parties, scheduled for the 19th, has been postponed by two days

Kathmandu – The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), along with left‑wing parties including the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist), is scheduled to announce their unity on Kartik 19.

According to negotiator Prakash Jwala from the Unified Socialist, the ceremony among eight parties will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at One Party Palace, Sukedhara. The announcement had been planned for Monday but was postponed by two days due to unfinished preparations.

It has been agreed that the new unified party will be named “Communist Party of Nepal (Socialist)”. Finalization of the election symbol remains pending.

Together with the Maoist Centre and Unified Socialist, other left‑group components joining include the group led by Chiran Si of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (Biplav faction), the Nepal Socialist Party under Mahindra Ray Yadav, a faction led by Prem Bahadur Singh, the Communist Party of Nepal (Socialist) under Raju Karki, and the Jan Samajbadi Party Nepal under Subhash Raj Kafle.

After the unity announcement, the first meeting of the integrated party will be held on Kartik 20. Both the Maoist Centre’s Sunday secretariat meeting at Parisdanda and the Unified Socialist’s meeting at Aaloknagar approved the meeting for the 20th. Additionally, the Maoist Centre has called a dissolved central committee meeting for the 18th.

Among the parties heading for unity, some leaders have opposed the move. From the Unified Socialist: Jhalanath Khanal and Ghanashyam Bhusal; from the Maoist Centre: Janardan Sharma are reportedly not participating in the integration
