Kathmandu, July 13 — The suspicious vehicle (registration number Ba 01-034 Cha 8480) abandoned outside the gate of Kantipur Publications on Monday morning has been found to have been used by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Ravi Jaiswal.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had recently been booked by Jaiswal under the name of Jyoti Concern, but ownership had not yet been officially transferred from the seller, ST Motors.

Ravi Jaiswal is the son of Kanthamani Prasad Kalwar (Jaiswal), the mayor of Garuda Municipality in Rautahat. Speaking to Onlinekhabar, Mayor Kalwar confirmed that the vehicle had been purchased about a month ago.

“Yes, the vehicle with registration number Ba 01-034 Cha 8480 was being used by my son Ravi. We bought it around a month ago, but the ownership transfer has not yet been completed,” he said.

According to the mayor, the vehicle was driven either by his son or by a designated driver.

Ravi Jaiswal recently joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and has become active in politics. His father, however, was elected mayor representing the CPN-UML.

On May 22, the RSP appointed Ravi Jaiswal as a member of the party’s Central Research and Documentation Department. He was nominated by the party’s then General Secretary, Bhupdev Shah. Mayor Kalwar also confirmed that his son had joined the RSP a few months ago.

The suspicious vehicle was found parked outside the gates of Kantipur Publications, Onlinekhabar, and Himalaya Television on Monday morning.

Police have since towed away the vehicle using a crane. However, SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range said that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
