Kathmandu — Voting to select the new leadership of the CPN (UML) will begin from 7 PM on Tuesday and continue until 1 AM Wednesday, according to Vijay Subba, chair of the party’s Central Election Commission.

Subba said if voting cannot be completed by 1 AM, the time will be extended. Previously, the election was scheduled to start at 4 PM, but technical preparations for the electronic voting machines delayed the start.

A total of 80 electronic voting machines are being used in the election. According to Subba, it is expected to take 25–30 minutes for each delegate to cast their vote, meaning it will take a significant amount of time for all 2,262 delegates to vote.

Each delegate must vote for all candidates except those running unopposed; 11 candidates are unopposed, and a delegate will need to vote for at least 292 candidates including the chair and other office-bearers.
