Kathmandu — Prime Minister Sushila Karki has revealed that she has received threats not to work against corruption.

At an event held Tuesday at Singha Durbar on the occasion of the 22nd International Anti-Corruption Day, Karki said that both direct and indirect threats have come her way.

She emphasized that the government she heads is not just a product of elections, but born from the youth-led Gen-Z movement demanding good governance — and therefore, it will work accordingly. Karki claimed that her government has been working at full speed to deliver good governance alongside regular duties.

She asserted that they are ready to take any necessary step against corruption.

“The young generation’s demands and hopes may take time to realize, but we will not retreat from taking the toughest possible action against corruption,” she said. “Even if some elements — threatened by the steps we have taken — resort to direct or indirect intimidation, we will not be intimidated.”

She urged relevant officials and civil servants to continue their work with professional independence, without any hesitation, and move forward boldly.
