Kathmandu: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding support for Nepal’s economic development, with a stronger focus on creating jobs, attracting private investment, and accelerating key infrastructure projects.

During a meeting with Nepal’s Prime Minister, ADB President Masato Kanda said the bank is ready to deepen its partnership with Nepal by promoting investment-led growth and increasing employment opportunities, particularly for young people. He emphasized that the ADB will continue supporting projects that strengthen infrastructure, improve public services, and encourage greater participation from the private sector.

The Prime Minister welcomed ADB’s continued cooperation and highlighted the government’s priority of achieving sustainable economic growth through increased investment, improved governance, and timely implementation of development projects. He also stressed the importance of creating quality jobs within the country to reduce the outflow of skilled workers.

Both sides discussed ways to speed up ongoing ADB-funded projects and explore new areas of collaboration in sectors such as energy, transport, urban development, and climate resilience. They agreed that stronger cooperation between the government, development partners, and the private sector is essential to achieving Nepal’s long-term development goals.

ADB has been one of Nepal’s largest development partners for decades, providing financial and technical support for infrastructure, energy, education, and social development initiatives. The latest meeting signals a shared commitment to boosting investment, improving livelihoods, and supporting inclusive economic growth across the country.
