Kathmandu – An announcement is to be made on Kartik 26 for the unity between the Nepali Communist Party and the ‘Matrubhumi Jagrān Abhiyān’ led by Bhim Rawal.

On Kartik 26, at 1:30 p.m., a unity-declaration programme has been organised at the National Auditorium located on Exhibition Road.

At the event, the party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bhim Rawal will address the gathering.

Earlier, on Kartik 19, a unity declaration was made among ten parties including the Maoist Centre, the Unified Socialist Party and the Jana Samajwadi Party. On that same day, preparations were made to include Bhim Rawal in the unification, but it was postponed at the last minute.

On Sunday, a discussion between Dahal and Madhav Nepal at their residence in Tokha finalized the unity. A source says that Bhim Rawal will be accorded sixth-seniority leadership in the Nepali Communist Party. Roughly a year ago he was expelled from the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) after raising questions against its chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Four years ago, at the party’s 10th national convention in Sauraha, Rawal contested for the chairmanship against Oli and lost. After repeatedly raising issues with Oli’s style of party management, he was subject to disciplinary action that led to his expulsion. Thereafter, Rawal has been conducting the “Matrubhumi Jagrān Abhiyān”.

While considering forming a separate party, Rawal has now agreed to join the Nepali Communist Party amid the evolving political developments after the Gen-Z movement.
