Tension Erupts in Banepa After Tipper Truck Fatally Strikes Motorcyclist (Photos)

In Banepa, on the Araniko Highway, a tipper truck struck a scooter, resulting in one person’s death and another injured, police said.

The accident occurred near Chandni Chowk in Banepa this morning, where the scooter rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured person has been taken to hospital for treatment, authorities added.

The tipper, bearing provincial registration number Bagmati 01–004 K 3423, collided with the scooter registered Bagmati 02–063 P 9189. In response to the crash, angry local residents set the tipper truck on fire.

Police fired tear gas to control the situation, and traffic on the highway was briefly disrupted. Authorities say they are working to restore order.
