Supreme Court Issues Show-Cause Order on Lekhak’s Habeas Corpus Petition

KATHMANDU — The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

On Monday, a bench led by Justice Kumar Regmi directed the government to explain the grounds for Mr. Lekhak’s arrest.

The petition, filed by his wife, Yashoda Lekhak, argues that he is being held in unlawful detention.

Police arrested Mr. Lekhak and former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Saturday in connection with the deadly crackdown on Gen Z protests.

No order has yet been issued in Mr. Oli’s habeas corpus petition.
