RSP’s Bishwaraj Pokharel Clinches Okhaldhunga Seat by Narrow 5-Vote Margin

Biratnagar — Former police chief and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Bishwaraj Pokharel has been elected to the House of Representatives from Okhaldhunga by a margin of just five votes.

According to the Election Commission, the 59-year-old former Additional Inspector General (AIG) secured 13,953 votes to win the seat. His closest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Kumar Luintel, 52, came second with 13,948 votes.

In the single electoral constituency of Okhaldhunga, Nepali Communist Party candidate Ambir Babu Gurung finished third with 11,296 votes. Gurung had previously been part of the so-called kitchen cabinet of Sherdhan Rai when Rai served as chief minister of Koshi Province.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML candidate Asmita Thapa secured fourth place with 10,720 votes. Uddhav Kumar Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party came fifth with 3,858 votes.
