RSP withdraws support to govt, Prachanda may have to seek vote of confidence

Kathmandu, 5 May: The Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) today announced withdrawal of support it had been extending to the government that will force Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to secure a fresh vote of survival, third ever since he became PM four months ago.

The RSP decision was a stern set back to the government in general and PM Dahal in particular as he had requested RSP chief Rabi Lamichhane to join the government, failing which, to continue with the support to the government.

A meeting of the RSP office bearers and MPs today decided not to join the government, and withdraws its support with immediate effect, it however decided to extend constructive support to the government.

The RSP decision will inject further political instability that may trigger speculations on the future of the government.
