Dhangadhi – Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane called on voters to use the upcoming Falgun 21 (March 5) election to end longstanding misrule, corruption, and political disorder in Nepal. Speaking at an election rally, he urged the public to “close the shutters of misrule all at once” by voting decisively against traditional political practices and establishing a new trajectory for governance.

Lamichhane framed his appeal around the idea of shutting down entrenched dysfunction in the political system — what he described metaphorically as the “shutters” of misgovernance and unemployment — and replacing it with a mandate for meaningful change. He said that the RSP has come forward to end the cycle in which political parties repeatedly promise rights in their manifestos but fail to deliver results once in power.

Encouraging citizens from all walks of life to participate, Lamichhane also appealed to Nepalis living abroad — including in India — to return and cast their votes if possible, arguing that this election should be won by the people rather than by parties or elites. He stressed that voters should hold leaders accountable, saying those who make promises but do not fulfil them should face consequences at the ballot box.

Lamichhane also reiterated his party’s demand for a five-year stable government that can carry out reforms without interruption, and he told supporters that this election represents an opportunity for citizens to take back control and enact the change they have sought for years.
