Qatar Grants Amnesty to 13 Nepalis, Government Expresses Gratitude

Kathmandu – Qatar has granted amnesty to 13 Nepalis.

On the occasion of the State National Day of Qatar and International Human Rights Day, amnesty was given to 13 Nepalese prisoners. These Nepalis had gone to Qatar for employment and ended up serving jail sentences for various offenses.

After its citizens received amnesty, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the Government of Qatar. In a press note issued by the ministry, it said, “The Government of Nepal expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the State of Qatar for the generous amnesty granted to 13 Nepalese prisoners on the occasion of the State National Day of Qatar and International Human Rights Day.”

The ministry stated that this gesture by the Government of Qatar has further deepened bilateral relations. “The ministry highly appreciates the compassionate pardon granted on humanitarian grounds, as an expression of the deep friendship and goodwill in the existing bilateral relations between Nepal and the State of Qatar, the Government of Nepal said.”
