Prosecutors Seek 10-Day Detention of Oli and Lekhak

KATHMANDU — Government prosecutors in Kathmandu have requested that former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak be held in custody for 10 days for investigation.

The request was made on Sunday when the two were presented in the Kathmandu District Court for the first time.

Police arrested Mr. Oli and Mr. Lekhak early Saturday morning on charges related to culpable homicide in connection with the crackdown during the Gen Z protests.

On Sunday, Mr. Lekhak was presented in person, while Mr. Oli appeared virtually before the court.
