Kathmandu – Nepali Congress General Secretary Pradeep Paudel has urged the government to make public the report of the Gauribahadur Karki Commission.

In a statement issued on social media, he said it is unfortunate that the government has kept the report secret despite a long time having passed since it was submitted by the commission formed to investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 during the Gen Z movement. He noted that this secrecy has raised suspicions.

The commission led by Gauribahadur Karki, formed to investigate the events of the Gen Z movement on those dates, has already submitted its report to the government. However, the interim government has yet to make it public, which, he said, has created various doubts and concerns.

Questioning what has prevented the report from being released and why it is still not public, Paudel said this has become a pressing and unanswered question.

“Now that the tenure of the interim government is ending, why is it shirking its responsibility by not publishing the report even at this final stage?” he asked. “Making the commission’s report public is both the government’s duty and responsibility. Keeping it secret like previous commission reports is unfortunate.”

Paudel also recalled that the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee meeting held recently had already decided to demand the publication of the report. He reiterated his appeal to the outgoing government to fulfill its responsibility by releasing the report promptly.

The Nepali Congress has formally demanded the report’s publication through its Central Working Committee. “I once again urge this outgoing government to publish the report as soon as possible and fulfill its responsibility,” he said.
