Kathmandu — Prime Minister Sushila Karki is preparing to reshuffle her secretariat. The reorganization comes after several individuals in the secretariat became embroiled in controversies one after another.

According to sources, Karki plans to reshuffle staff including her chief political advisor and her chief private secretary Adarsha Shrestha, after they were dragged into scandal. Shrestha — who was controversially appointed to the secretariat while Karki was still serving in the Supreme Court — had recently brought in relatives, including his wife, into the secretariat. Once the matter was exposed, questions were raised about the moral integrity of Karki, who came to power on the basis of a movement promising good governance.

In addition, Shrestha is also accused of being involved in financial transactions while working at the court’s case-management section.

Shrestha first joined government service in 2004 (2061 BS) as an IT support staff, and before becoming the prime minister’s private secretary he served continuously in the Supreme Court. He spent many years working in the case-management section, and before the “Gola-pratha” (case-management overhaul) he was involved in assigning cases from the government residence at Baluwatar.
