Kathmandu — Communist Party of Nepal – Unified Marxist Leninist Chair and Former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has said that peace and security have still not been established ahead of the election.

Speaking with journalists Monday at Bhadrapur Airport in Jhapa, Oli said the government has not yet been able to make security arrangements for the upcoming election.

He claimed that various types of criminal incidents are still occurring in society, which clearly shows that security arrangements remain weak.

According to Chairman Oli, with questions now being raised about the Election Commission, there are doubts about whether the election will be peaceful, fair and free of fear.

This is his first district visit since the government lifted the travel restriction (ban on leaving the valley) imposed on him immediately after the Gen Z  movement.

He has come to Jhapa to file his candidacy for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 and to give directions to party workers for the campaign.

The CPN-UML has already decided to field him as a candidate for the House of Representatives from Jhapa Constituency No. 5. Participating in various programs in his election area, he will formally launch his election campaign.
