NPL 2025: Chitwan’s triumphant start by defeating Karnali

Kathmandu – In the first match of the day on Tuesday in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), the Chitwan Rhinos got off to a winning start in the tournament by defeating the Karnali Yaks by 4 wickets. Chasing a target of 167 runs, Chitwan achieved it with 5 balls remaining.

For Chitwan, Ravi Bopara played a blazing innings, scoring 52 runs off just 35 balls. Saif Zaib added 38, Kushal Malla contributed 20, and opener Deepak Bohora made 42.

On the Karnali side, Sompal Kami took 2 wickets, while Yunish Singh, Mark Watt, and Yuvraj Khatri picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first, Karnali’s opener Priyanka Panchal played a crucial innings of 90 runs in 48 balls, including 7 boundaries and 6 sixes, putting the team in a competitive position.

Other contributions for Karnali came from Max O’Dwad, who made 20, and Mark Watt, who added 16. Pawan Sarraf also played a valuable unbeaten innings of 27.

For Chitwan’s bowling, Sohil Nanvir, Saif Zaib, and Ravi Bopara each claimed one wicket.
