England advances to World Cup semifinals with 2-1 win over Norway

England has advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing World Cup by defeating Norway in the third quarterfinal. In their quest to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2018, star striker Jude Bellingham scored two goals. This marks England’s fourth overall journey to the semifinals.

The match was pushed into extra time after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. England took the lead in extra time, securing a 2-1 victory.

In the third minute of extra time, Morgan Rogers’ shot was mishandled by Norway’s goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland, allowing Jude Bellingham to capitalize on the rebound without error.

Earlier, during regulation time, Bellingham had also brought England back into the game after they were trailing 1-0 to Norway. The match went into extra time after ending 1-1 in regulation.

Norway took the lead in the first half with Andreas Schjelderup scoring in the 36th minute. However, England’s Jude Bellingham equalized before halftime. Norway regained the lead in the second half, but their goal was disallowed by VAR, providing relief to England.

During extra time, the referee awarded a penalty to England, but after a VAR check, it was overturned as no foul was found on the Norwegian player. England will now face the winner of the Argentina vs. Switzerland match for a place in the final.
