Kathmandu – A group led by Birendra Bahadur Basnet, director of Nepal’s leading airline company Buddha Air, registered a new political party on Thursday.

The newly registered party at the Election Commission is named “Gatishil Loktantrik Party” (Dynamic Democratic Party). Basnet is a member of the party, while sociologist Dinesh Prasai is its Chairperson, and Piyush Prasad Kayastha is the General Secretary.

According to the party’s constitution, party office bearers will not contest elections, although general members will be allowed to do so.

The Gatishil Loktantrik Party has been registered with the registration number 517 at the Election Commission.

Party documents claim that the Gatishil Loktantrik Party is a new political alternative focused on reform, good governance, and economic upliftment.

In a party manifesto titled “Why Us and Our Commitment”, the party defines itself as a reformist, transparent, and people-centric force.

The document also states that the party aims to emerge as an alternative political force by addressing weaknesses in Nepal’s political, social, and economic structures—driven by new-generation thinking and competent leadership.
