Kathmandu – Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, Senior Judge Sapana Pradhan Malla, and Law Minister Anilkumar Sinha are going from Nepal to India for the oath-taking ceremony of India’s newly appointed Chief Justice Surya Kant.

A high-level team from Nepal’s Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Raut and including Senior Judge Malla and Registrar-General Vimal Paudel, will attend the swearing-in. The Cabinet has already approved Minister Sinha’s participation.

The oath of office for India’s new Chief Justice Surya Kant will be administered Monday by Indian President Draupadi Murmu.

Chief Justice Raut has just returned from a trip to Bangladesh, and it has not been customary for Nepal’s top judges to attend the swearing-in of an Indian Chief Justice.

With both Raut and Senior Judge Malla abroad, the Supreme Court of Nepal will be without its top leadership for a few days.
