The Nepali Congress has finalized the names of 20 Members of Parliament (MPs) under the proportional representation system. The decision was reached during a meeting of the party’s Central Working Performance Committee held on Sunday at the party headquarters in Sanepa. According to party spokesperson Devraj Chalise, the selection was guided by the legal requirement to ensure 33% female representation in the Federal Parliament, which meant 15 of the 20 allocated seats had to be filled by women.

Spokesperson Chalise further explained that the party meticulously balanced various inclusive clusters to meet these requirements. The selection includes six representatives from the Indigenous Nationalities (Adivasi Janajati) category and six from the Khas Arya group. The remaining five female MPs were chosen by balancing the Tharu, Dalit, Madhesi, Muslim, and Backward Region clusters.

The party plans to submit this list to the Election Commission today, which will officially announce the names after a verification process. Additionally, Chalise noted that a Central Working Committee meeting will be convened within a few days to conduct a formal review of the election results.
