Nepal Election Commission Tells Deuba Faction: ‘We Will Not Act Outside Law and Procedure

Kathmandu — The Election Commission has said it will analyze and decide on the claim to the Nepali Congress’s official status by Sher Bahadur Deuba’s faction strictly within the bounds of the constitution, statutes and law.

The Commission communicated this response to the team of acting party chair Purna Bahadur Khadka, which today submitted documents at the Election Commission seeking recognition.

“We will not make any decisions outside the law and established procedures. We believe you will participate in the work according to the election timetable,” acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari told the Congress representatives in discussions.
