Maoist Centre and Unified Socialist along with ten left‑wing groups announce unity

Kathmandu – The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist),  with  more than half a dozen left-wing groupings announced their unification today.

The unified party will be named Nepali Communist Party .

At programme held in Bhrikutimandap, the Maoist Centre, Unified Socialist, Nepal Socialist Party, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Nepal Communist Party, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Socialist), and Communist Party of Nepal (Samyabadi) announced their merger.

The event was attended by top leaders including coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal (‘Prachanda’) of the Maoist Centre, chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal of the Unified Socialist, senior Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, senior Unified Socialist leader Bamdev  Gautam, chairman Mahendra Ray Yadav of the Nepal Socialist Party, and general secretary Chiranjivi Puna of the Nepal Communist Party, among many others.

As per the understanding reached, the unified will adopted are declared as Marxism-‘scientific socialism ‘ within the framework of Marxism and Leninism , and its  election symbol will be five-pointed star.

The parties which have agreed to hold a unified national convention within the next six months, are expected to give formal shape to the new central committee dissolved the previous committees if each party.
