Kathmandu – Kulman Ghising is preparing to resign from his ministerial post.

In the non-party government led by Sushila Karki, Ghising, who holds three important ministries, is set to resign and register a party.

Currently he is responsible for the Ministries of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Urban Development, and Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. Ghising’s team – including Balen Shah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City – is planning to register a party in a few days.

Because the Karki-led government is non-party, his joining a party while serving as minister would create a moral crisis; hence, a close source says he will leave the ministerial post before submitting the party registration to the commission.

A few days ago, in a meeting with editors at Baluwatar, Prime Minister Karki asked the ministers about their readiness to contest elections. Other ministers said they were not preparing for elections. But Ghising did not respond.

In Ghising’s proposed party, former members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party such as Sumana Shrestha and Sagar Dhakal will participate. For the election scheduled on Falgun 21, the deadline for party registration is set for Kartik 30. Ghising intends to advance his party as a Gen-Z party.
