Kathmandu- Nepal has suffered a heavy 10-wicket defeat against Italy in their second match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. After being sent in to bat first, Nepal set a target of 124 runs, which Italy chased down effortlessly in just 12.4 overs without losing a single wicket. This clinical performance by Italy was led by Justin Mosca and Anthony Mosca, who shared an unbeaten 124-run opening partnership to seal the game.

The loss has significantly damaged Nepal’s chances of progressing to the Super Eight stage of the tournament. Earlier in the match, Nepal’s innings ended at 123 runs with only three balls remaining. Aarif Sheikh was the top scorer for Nepal with 27 runs, while captain Rohit Paudel contributed 23 runs and Aasif Sheikh added 20. Other notable contributions came from Dipendra Singh Airee with 17 runs and Karan KC, who remained unbeaten on 18.

Italy’s bowling attack was highly effective in restricting the Nepali batters. Crishan Kalugamage led the way with 3 wickets, while Ben Manenti claimed 2. Additional wickets were taken by JJ Smuts, Ali Hasan, and Jaspreet Singh, who each took one. This result is particularly historic as it represents the widest margin of defeat for Nepal in T20 World Cup history and marks the first-ever World Cup victory for Italy.
