Kathmandu — Senior Nepali Congress central member Ramhari Khatiwada has accused the government of focusing on expanding the cabinet rather than conducting elections.

Speaking to reporters at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Monday, he alleged that the government is busy hunting for corrupt individuals to make ministers. “The government is not on the path to hold elections. It is focused on expanding the cabinet. And it is looking only for those who are corrupt to make them ministers,” he said.

Khatiwada said that although a few ministers in the current government appear to be working, no one in the government is truly focused on the main task of holding elections. “I recently heard that controversial people have now come in. Some individuals also seem to be doing their jobs,” he said. “But still, the government is not in a position to conduct elections right now.
