High Court Orders Release of Rabi Lamichhane on Bank Guarantee

Kathmandu — The High Court Tulsipur, Butwal bench has ordered the release of Rabi Lamichhane on the submission of a bank guarantee.

On Thursday, a bench of Justices Vasudev Acharya and Tej Narayan Poudel ordered that the former director of Gorkha Media Network, Lamichhane, and Chhabi Joshi be released upon providing a bank guarantee.

They had sought release by furnishing a bank guarantee under Section 71 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 2074 (2017), equivalent to the amount of liability established against them.

Although the District Court Rupandehi had rejected their application under that provision, the High Court has directed that Lamichhane be released upon furnishing a bank guarantee equal to his share of Rs. 27,484,000
