Kathmandu- Prime Minister Sushila Karki has clarified that the election will be completed within the ‘scheduled’ time. She stated that the government is committed to holding the election under any circumstances.

Prime Minister Karki said that if elections are disrupted in some areas due to unavoidable reasons, they will be completed in a second phase if necessary. Taking into account possible complications caused by cold weather in Himalayan districts, she informed that voters would be transported to locations accessible by vehicles and voting would be conducted there if needed.

“The election will happen no matter what. This is like an emergency situation-it must be carried out at any cost,” Prime Minister Karki said. She also made it clear that once new representatives are elected, power will be handed over to the new government.

According to her, the estimated cost of this election is around NPR 31 to 32 billion. She noted that a large amount of expenditure is required for physical infrastructure, equipment, and human resource management for the election, and added that assistance received from various countries has helped in conducting the election.

Prime Minister Karki also stated that the government is serious and vigilant about ensuring a peaceful and fair election.
