Kathmandu – At the Central Working Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress on Tuesday, General Secretary Gagan Thapa presented a schedule to hold the party’s general convention in the third week of Poush

He said that if it is not possible to hold the Congress general convention in Pus according to the schedule, then a “special general convention” in line with the party statute should be held — this demand was also made at the party meeting on Tuesday.

Following the post-Gen-Z movement situation, a meeting that started on Asoj 28 ran on Asoj 30 and 31, and then on Kartik 13 and 14. The schedule for the general convention has been the subject of dispute at the Congress Working Committee meetings.

While presenting the schedule, Thapa also mentioned that because of the ambitions of himself and fellow General Secretary Bishwaprakash Sharma, a proposal to hold the convention in Pus had not been brought earlier.

According to central member Ajay Babu Shivakoti, Thapa indicated in the meeting that he might also make a commitment to not stand for any post in the upcoming convention.

“In any case, let us hold the general convention before the election so that we can send the message that we are fully prepared to go into the election,” Thapa said in the meeting.
