Kathmandu — Nepali Congress General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have sent an eight-point proposal to party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and the establishment faction as part of efforts to reach a political consensus amid the party’s ongoing internal dispute.

The proposal outlines key conditions that the general secretaries want the Deuba camp to accept before moving forward, including restrictions on leadership roles, candidate nominations and internal party procedures.

The eight points proposed are:

  1. Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba should step back from executive roles.

  2. The special general convention should be formally recognized as the legitimate party process.

  3. A nominee for prime minister must be selected in advance.

  4. No electoral alliance should be formed with any other party.

  5. A widely acceptable parliamentary board must be formed for ticket distribution.

  6. A five-member high-level mechanism should be established to focus on election preparations.

  7. President Deuba should not sign candidate tickets.

  8. Reports presented at the special general convention should be accepted as part of the party’s core strategy.
