Former Minister Deepak Khadka Arrested

Kathmandu — Deepak Khadka, a former minister and a leader of the Nepali Congress, has been arrested by Nepal Police.

Mr. Khadka was taken into custody by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), according to Manoj K.C., the bureau’s chief, who confirmed the arrest.

Mr. Khadka, who served as energy minister under the government led by former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, is under investigation after unauthorized cash was reportedly found at his residence following an arson attack on Sept. 10, security sources said.

He also faces allegations related to the misappropriation of land belonging to the Nepal Scouts in Lainchaur.
