Kathmandu – The Election Commission has approved the Election Code of Conduct 2082 in preparation for the elections scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5, 2026). The new code has been made quite strict to ensure fairness in the electoral process, though its effective date will be announced later.

Under the not yet implemented code of conduct, candidates are prohibited from leading processions of more than 25 people — including the candidate, proposers, and supporters — when filing nomination papers or during door‑to‑door campaigning. The use of music, band and tableaux in these processions is also forbidden.

The code further bars political parties or candidates from using online webpages, TV scrolls, shopping mall displays, call center messages, ATM counters or street plays for election propaganda; though election materials may be posted on one official and one private website.

Other restrictions include limits on flags and election symbols at events, bans on digital boards, flex signs, and audio‑visual displays, and strict rules on where campaign material may be placed.
