Kathmandu — The production team of the film “Lalibazar,” which was preparing for its premiere, has been thrown into uncertainty after the Patan High Court issued a short-term interim order halting its screening for now.

The court on Tuesday ordered a halt to the screening of Lalibazar—a film based on the Badi community—which was scheduled to be released on Friday.

Although the production team had organized a premiere show at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, it was postponed following the court’s order.

“We feel the court has not understood the essence of the film. We will go to court tomorrow (Wednesday) requesting that the hearing scheduled for Friday be advanced,” said executive producer Rabindra Singh Baniya.

While women from the Badi community appreciated the film after watching it, one individual filed a case against it in court.
