Kathmandu — The government has decided to prohibit the publication and broadcast of advertisements from all three tiers of government in private media outlets.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has informed ministries, commissions, the chief ministers’ offices of all seven provinces, and local levels across the country about this decision through an official circular.

The letter issued on Wednesday states: “This step has been taken to maintain austerity, ensure transparency in the publication/broadcast of advertisements and information, and promote government-owned media.”
