Kathmandu, Apr 13: Mr Anjan Shrestha has been elected as the senior vice chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI).
Mr Shrestha was declared elected on the second round after Umesh Lal Shrestha, another contender, announced exit from the race.
In the first round of the election no single candidate out of three—Ram Chandra Sanghai, Umesh Lal Shrestha and Anjan Shrestha- got 50 per cent votes. Ram Chandra Sanghai who stood third at the first phase was out of the race and Anjan and Umesh Lal were to contend in the second phase.
As per the constitution and practice adopted by the FNCCI, the senior vice chairman is the automatic successor to the current Chair when he retires at the end of the current tenure.
