Advocate Kandel Appointed Attorney General

Kathmandu — Advocate Dr. Narayan Kandel has been appointed Attorney General.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting held on Sunday, which appointed Kandel, a permanent resident of Baglung, to the post.

Under constitutional provisions, the Attorney General serves as the government’s chief legal adviser.

The Constitution also grants the Attorney General the authority to decide whether to initiate or not initiate prosecution in cases on behalf of the state.
