Kathmandu – A total of 122 parties are registered with the Election Commission, the commission said in a press conference on Sunday.

According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, there were 122 parties on the day of the election announcement — and that number remains unchanged.
He added that during this period, 7 parties have been dissolved, while 7 new parties have received certificates.
He also said that 28 parties are still in the registration process.

Bhattarai noted that on Bhadra 27, the House of Representatives was dissolved and a new election date was announced.
Even though today is the final day to register new parties for the February 21 election, he said that party‑registration processes will continue as normal.

He added that parties that have already received certificates within the election timeframe will be allowed to participate in both the House of Representatives and National Assembly elections. He also said that voter registration is ongoing. According to him, the Election Commission will continue collecting names for the voter list until 5 Mangshir.
As of Saturday evening, 285,000 people have verified their identities with the commission for the voter list, and another 200,000 have applied using their national ID card
