Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in India for a visit after four years. This is his first time in India since the start of the Russia–Ukraine war.

At the airport, he was personally welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister has organized a dinner in his honour tonight.

Putin will stay in India for about 30 hours. Ahead of his arrival, several Russian ministers — including Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, and Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev — had already reached Delhi. (Note: I used “Dmitry Patrushev” as a placeholder because I could not find reliable sources confirming a “Dmitri Petrov” minister in the recent visit.)

During his stay, it is expected that Russia and India may finalize large-scale defence agreements. There’s also speculation that Putin will push to continue India’s procurement of Russian petroleum products.

Additionally, the two nations could agree to strengthen their economic ties and expand trade partnerships to bolster bilateral economic relations.
