US President Donald Trump has stated that he might launch another strong military attack on Iran tonight. After Tehran, along with its Gulf region allies, targeted ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the US is preparing for another assault.

Speaking to the media after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the ongoing NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump said, “We hit them very hard last night. Possibly, we will hit them hard again tonight. I want to give them a small warning. Tonight, we will launch a severe attack, but ultimately, we will have to see how the situation unfolds.”

Trump reiterated his claim of having brought about regime change in Iran. Previously, he had mentioned that Tehran’s new leadership was more practical than before, but now he criticized them as “crazy”.

In the same context, he made a misleading claim that the “Islamic Republic of Japan” had fired 111 missiles at American aircraft carriers during the war, but all were shot down by the US.

Trump also stated that the new agreement he made with Iran is much more effective than the nuclear deal made by former President Barack Obama’s administration in 2015.

He said, “Our agreement completely prevents Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Obama’s deal, however, opened the path towards nuclear armament.”

Just a few hours earlier, Trump had announced that the ceasefire between the US and Iran had ended. On Tuesday night, the US reported that it attacked more than 80 military targets in Iran.

In response, Iran claimed to have targeted American military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. The latest US attack followed an assault on three oil tankers in Hormuz. However, Iran has not accepted direct responsibility for these incidents.
