Maloo taken off sedatives

With gradual progress in his health condition, doctors treating Indian Mountaineer Anurag Maloo have taken off sedatives support.

He is, however, still under ventilator. He is under observation for his spontaneous breathing effort. Once progress is noticed, he will be taken off the ventilator, doctors said.

Maloo has been undergoing treatment there since April 20, hours after he was rescued from a crevasses in the Mt Annapurna.

Maloo, aged 34 had fallen into a crevasses, from 6,000 m point between camp three and camp two of Mt Annapurna on April 17 and was rescued 68 hours later on April 20.

He had abandoned the expedition on April 16 after he failed to make it to the 8,091 m peak and fell into the crevasses on his return.
