The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged the public to exercise caution due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country today.

According to meteorologist Sanjiv Adhikari from the department, the monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country. The monsoon low-pressure line is slightly above the average position near the Terai in the west and around the average position in the east, indicating significant rainfall over the next three days.

The department has reported the possibility of heavy rainfall in some areas of the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with very heavy rainfall in one or two locations. Similarly, one or two places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may also experience heavy rainfall.

Due to the potential rainfall, there is an increased risk of landslides, floods, and soil erosion, necessitating special precautions for residents in affected areas. The department has advised regularly following the latest weather updates as daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transport could be impacted.

This afternoon, the weather across the country will range from partly to fully cloudy. Most hilly and Terai regions are likely to experience moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning, while some areas in the Himalayan region may also see snowfall along with rain.

Tonight, most areas across the country will remain cloudy, with rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning expected in many hilly and Terai regions. The department has requested heightened vigilance as very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is possible in one or two locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
