Arvind Kejriwal Announces Resignation as Delhi Chief Minister

Arvind Kejriwal, who was recently released on bail, has announced his resignation as Delhi’s Chief Minister. Speaking to party members, he stated he would step down within two days and criticized the BJP’s corruption accusations against him.

He mentioned that a new Chief Minister would be appointed in 2-3 days and noted that he would not remain in office until the next election. He also indicated that Manish Sisodia, facing similar accusations, would also resign.

Kejriwal, who had spent 177 days in jail over Delhi’s liquor policy, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court with restrictions on his official duties. With the Delhi Assembly term ending in February 2025 and only 5 months left before elections, Kejriwal might use his resignation to strengthen his position against the opposition.

At the event, he presented himself as a revolutionary leader, comparing his struggles to those of Mata Sita, and highlighted that this would be his third consecutive term as Delhi’s Chief Minister.
