Oli Released, Placed Under Relative’s Responsibility

Kathmandu — Former Prime Minister and Communist Party of Nepal -Unified Marxist Leninist  Chairman KP Sharma Oli has been released.

He had been arrested from his residence on Chaitra 14 by police on charges of being responsible in the Gen Z incident. Following this, Oli was admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for treatment. Acting on a Supreme Court order issued on Monday, he was released around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

According to Kathmandu Police spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, he was released and handed over to his relatives. Bhattarai said it will be decided by the hospital whether Oli returns home today or remains under medical care.

Former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, who was arrested in the same case, is also being released.
