Nepal’s women’s national team captain and striker Sabitra Bhandari has successfully undergone knee surgery. She sustained the injury during a match.

After suffering serious damage to both the ACL graft from a previous surgery and the MCL in her knee, she is expected to be sidelined for around a year.

In a social media post, she confirmed that the operation was successfully carried out in Auckland, New Zealand, by Dr. Simon and his team.

She explained that due to the unstable situation in the Gulf region, traveling to Qatar and the Aspetar hospital was not feasible. Following medical advice, she opted for surgery in New Zealand under local specialists. Her rehabilitation process will now begin under their supervision.

She added that she plans to continue her rehabilitation in Qatar once conditions normalize and expressed gratitude to the Nepali community in Wellington and Auckland for their support.

Bhandari also thanked her club, Wellington Phoenix, and her management team for arranging the surgery, as well as her fans for their continued encouragement, saying she is now fully focused on her comeback.
