Balen Shah Reports Election Spending of Rs 1.4 Million

Kathmandu — Balendra Shah, a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has submitted his election expense details to Nepal’s Election Commission.

In line with the legal provision requiring candidates to report campaign expenditures, Shah filed his election expense report on Monday. According to the statement submitted to the commission, he spent Rs 1,417,289 during the election campaign.

Shah, who was elected from Jhapa Constituency No. 5, reported that the largest share of the spending went to ward-level campaign programs, which cost Rs 580,000.

He also reported Rs 293,800 spent on using two vehicles during the campaign, Rs 120,000 for running a campaign office in Jhapa, and Rs 157,084 for producing publicity materials.

Shah defeated K. P. Sharma Oli, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), in the Jhapa-5 constituency. He was also the prime ministerial candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party in the parliamentary election.
