Kathmandu — The Election Commission has made a preliminary estimate that about 60 percent of registered voters nationwide cast their ballots in the House of Representatives election held today, officials said.

Acting Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said the commission’s early estimate shows roughly 60 percent turnout, though the exact figure has yet to be confirmed.

There were 18,936,89 registered voters for the election, including 9,663,358 male voters, 9,240,131 female voters, and 200 others.

Apart from a few incidents, voting was carried out peacefully across the country, the commission said.
